The developer also has versions for the iPad and iPhone. The latest version, Tap Forms 5, is all new and was introduced at the beginning of August. This is what I’ve been wanting and Tap Forms 5 is the key. ![]() It’s available on my Mac, iPad, iPhone, and even my Apple Watch. I can group albums together by artist or year. This list includes the album name, artist, album covers, ratings, the year the album was released, and track listings. I purchased it within 30 minutes and I went and created a catalog or list of my vinyl records. Could this be the Bento database replacement I’ve been looking for? Luckily, a member of recently introduced me to Tap Forms 5. Would Filemaker Pro work? Yes, but it is overkill for what I think most people need. Tap Forms 1.5 is a personal database app for your Mac offering a number of useful tools for collecting and managing your personal information. Unfortunately Filemaker is expensive and you have to have more than basic knowledge to set it up. The only choice they offer as a replacement is Filemaker Pro. Unfortunately they stopped developing it several years ago. Filemaker (owned by Apple) had a consumer level database called Bento and it was great. The problem with most database apps is that they are not easy to use, they are built for professionals and not consumers. With a good database, you can organize most anything. Yes, that’s a strange thing to say, but it’s true. If you like cataloging your files and feel that OS X's tagging is insufficient for your needs, this app is for you - provided you're willing to pay for it once the trial version expires.Įditors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Together for Mac 3.1.7.I’ve always loved databases. The app's interface is a joy to use, and additional features like file encryption bring even more value to the product. Together provides more features than OS X's tagging system. Organize files via custom folders, groups, labels, keywords, and Mavericks tags. Together supports many file types - we were able to add text documents, media and Web archives, and even whole folders. Add files though the menu, or drop them into the main window. One nice touch: You can open supported documents in new tabs. The app's interface is clean and usable, combining a category, item, and preview column with a toolbar. When started for the first time, Together prompts you to create a new library or import an existing one. Noteworthy features include drag-and-drop functionality for adding files to the library and outputting them via the shelf sidebar, extensive cataloging options, and reliable file encryption. Together for Mac creates a library of your favorite Finder files, lets you organize them, and provides easy access through an always-present sidebar.
